Company: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Gratiot and Montcalm counties

jill-irvingJob title: Executive director

Education: Central Michigan University, graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Commercial Recreation

Her new job: “I am thrilled to be the new executive director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Gratiot and Montcalm Counties. We are a comprehensive program that addresses the needs of children in all areas – intellectual, social, and emotional. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Gratiot/Montcalm County is a full member affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the largest and most effective system of one-to-one youth mentoring.”

Mid-Michigan appeal: “I grew up in mid-Michigan and after graduation from college, and like many others, looked forward to moving to the ‘big city.’ After many years living with the hustle and bustle of the city, I began to long for the simple pleasures mid-Michigan offers. I missed the feeling of community that is so apparent in the mid-Michigan area. People here really care and take part in making their community great. That’s not something you find in many other places. My husband (just married last April) and I enjoy serving on local committees and supporting local businesses and look forward to raising our family here.”

Jill is a tireless worker and giving, compassionate person. She will take BBBS to new heights. She exemplifies the kind of leader we need in Mid Michigan and I was proud to be in the Mt Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce Rollie Denison Leadership Institute class of 2008-2009 with her!!!!!!

Congratulations to Jill and to us for having here in the middle of the mitten!
