Meet a Mid-Michigan Olympian

Enjoy an evening with Ryan Bedford, a long track speedskater who is returning home to Midland on Thursday, Jan. 28, days before heading to the 2010 Winter Olympics.

A free evening of festivities is open to the public at the Midland Civic Arena. Events begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include free cake, T-shirts, keepsake photos of Bedford, a chance to meet the Olympian, a short speedskating exhibition and a question-and-answer session.

A world championship medalist in both long and short track speedskating, Bedford’s latest victory was a first place finish Dec. 29 at the 2010 U.S. Speedskating Championships in the grueling 10,000 meter race.
